American fast-food chain, Steak 'n Shake, has announced the formation of a strategic Bitcoin treasury. This reserve will be built from Bitcoin payments received from sales across its restaurant locations.

The company stated that all Bitcoin payments will be directly channeled into this reserve. This initiative has garnered significant attention and support from the Bitcoin community. Furthermore, as a philanthropic gesture, Steak 'n Shake will donate 210 satoshis (approximately $0.23) from every "Bitcoin Meal" sold to OpenSats, a non-profit organization supporting open-source Bitcoin development.

While the exact amount of Bitcoin accumulated has not been disclosed, Steak 'n Shake's financial reports indicate notable sales growth. In the second quarter of 2025, the company reported revenue of $69.3 million, a 12% year-over-year increase. Same-store sales also saw a 10.7% rise quarter-on-quarter in Q2 and 15% in Q3, partly attributed to the Bitcoin community's support. These figures suggest that Bitcoin users comprise a small but growing percentage of their customer base.

A key benefit of accepting Bitcoin highlighted by the company is cost efficiency. Steak 'n Shake reported saving approximately 50% in processing fees compared to traditional credit card payments.

To further incentivize adoption, Steak 'n Shake has also partnered with Fold, offering customers a $5 Bitcoin reward when purchasing a "Bitcoin Meal" or "Bitcoin Steakburger." This limited-time offer is available at approximately 400 locations across the United States.

Will Reeves, Chairman, Founder, and CEO of Fold, underscored the importance of such initiatives in integrating Bitcoin into daily life. "For many people, this will be the first time they ever own Bitcoin, and it will come from something as ordinary as grabbing a burger. That's what real adoption looks like," he commented.
